We strongly recommend minimising screen time and work during your programme — particularly during the purification phase. Panchakarma works most effectively when the nervous system is resting. That said, Wi-Fi is available throughout the property and guests with unavoidable professional commitments can manage light responsibilities outside of treatment hours. We ask for genuine rest during and immediately after primary procedures.
In the week before your arrival, we recommend reducing alcohol, processed foods, heavy meat consumption, and late nights. Begin increasing water intake and simplifying your diet. Bring any current medications with a doctor's summary. Arrive well-rested if possible — long-haul travel is tiring and your programme begins gently on Day 1 to allow adjustment. Our team sends a detailed pre-arrival guide upon booking.
In most cases, yes — with a thorough medical review. Your medications are assessed by our doctor on Day 1 and interactions with herbal and dietary protocols are evaluated. Some medications require adjusted timing or monitoring during Virechana. We never advise stopping medications without medical guidance, and our doctors communicate with your home physician when needed.
The fundamental difference is the primary procedures. Most European Ayurveda centres offer preparatory therapies only — Abhyanga, Shirodhara, herbal steam — which are genuinely beneficial but are technically Purvakarma (preparation), not Panchakarma. At Tigris Valley, qualified Ayurvedic physicians administer the classical primary procedures — Virechana, Basti, Nasya — that constitute authentic Panchakarma. This is not available in most Western wellness settings.
The classical recommendation is a minimum of 14 days to complete a meaningful Panchakarma — including preparation, at least one primary procedure, and the recovery phase. Our 7-day programme is designed for first-time guests and includes one primary procedure with shortened preparation. For guests with chronic conditions, 14 or 21 days is strongly recommended.
German guests often draw parallels between Panchakarma and the Kur tradition — a medically supervised multi-week healing stay. The philosophy is similar: that genuine health restoration requires time, clinical supervision, a controlled environment, and a structured therapeutic sequence. Panchakarma offers a depth of purification that goes beyond the Kur framework — but German guests are typically well-prepared for the commitment and rigour that authentic Panchakarma requires.

Your first step is a short consultation with our team — we will understand your health situation, recommend the most appropriate programme duration, and confirm availability. Panchakarma programmes have limited capacity each month to ensure individual attention and clinical quality. Early enquiry is recommended.
